Medici Design Group was established in 2001.

Principals Background
Owner/interior designer Marie Minnich, a Summa Cum Laude graduate from Eastern Michigan University, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design. She is a member of the American Society of Interior Designers (Allied ASID), and is
also currently a candidate for a Masters Degree of Interior Design at EMU..

Artistic Visions
If life has anything do with visual design, Marie is fluent in it. The story begins with a love of art instilled by a mother who brought her to the Art Institute of Chicago every week as soon as she could walk! This early indoctrination into the world of Art continued in a diverse lifetime background in decorative arts and visual design working as an award-winning corporate graphic artist, environmental designer, internet art director, web designer, fine artist, custom decorating department store decorator, and finally a degree in Interior Design and fluent residential interior and small commercial design practice.

Marie has been a solo entrepeneur since 1994, when she developed, created, and later sold one of the first premiere internet antiques web sites on the web, Cyber Antique Mall. )

After a stint as a custom decorator, Marie was so excited by custom furnishings that she founded a luxury window covering/soft furnishing custom design studio in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Sylvia's Attic which flourished for four years in the local and midwest community. Sylvia's Attic provided custom decorating services for the Ann Arbor community including custom window coverings, fine furnishings, and persian rugs.

This venture was successful, so in July of 2000, Marie decided to expand to a new showroom and concentrate on beautiful high-end import furniture and other furnishings, specializing in Indonesian and Chinese primitives. The move was made to an upscale, beautiful new retail space located on historic Liberty Street at 115 W. Liberty in the heart of the historic downtown AnnArbor business district, and Liberty Street Trading Company was born.

Ultimately, world events convergent with the amount of time needed to run the retail storefront, coupled with requests from customers to personally consult on their homes with design issues, made her feel she was neglecting her design clients and her true passion for interior design, so on February 5, 2002, she made a decision to close her retail showroom to concentrate on residential interior design.

A Multi-disciplinary approach
Since that time, Marie has done extensive full-service residential interior design planning. Her strong background in Fine Arts, Art History and Historic Preservation further enhance her artistic visions, and allow a multi-disciplinary approach to showcase client's personal art and artifacts, no matter how modest or grand. Period rooms can be anything from classical european to mid-century modern masterpieces.

Marie has had numerous feature articles in local publications such as the Ann Arbor News and the Ann Arbor Observor, and been quoted as a designer nationally in Golf Links Magazine; (Links Living, Bali High, April 2004, Links Living interview). She is also a frequent lecturer on interior design topics in the Ann Arbor area.

Professional affiliations include being a registered designer at the Michigan Design Center, Allied ASID member, and Member of Home Builders Association Washtenaw County.
